![]() ![]() trace 'by hand' using other Inkscape path tools (such as Pen/Bezier or Pencil/Freehand tools), including using a graphics pen and tablet with Inkscapes Calligraphy tool. trace it more or less automatically, using a trace engine, such as Inkscapes Trace Bitmap (Path menu) 1. But once I created it, the problem was solved. There are 3 ways to convert a raster image to vector: 1. Maybe someone else has some insight into how this was possible. And now you should be able to ungroup properly. That automatically gets rid of the entered group layer. I was able to fix the problem by creating a new layer. The problem is that this file has neither any object outside the group, or any other actual layer. The erase tool frequently dumps or crashes the whole inkscape file. I have used the erase tool successfully very often. The only way to get out of that group is to either click on some other object that's outside of the group, or click on an actual layer (not the entered group layer). The layer is open, visible, the object is selected, the erase tool is selected, it makes its little red track, and just disappears after I release the mouse button, having erased nothing. In this case, for example, click near the top-right node, and drag until it drops near the top left node of. ![]() When dragging, drag by clicking next to the node you want to snap. ![]() Then, for aligning the two hexagons, you need node snapping. And as long as you are inside that group, you can see that "entered group" layer. For drawing the hexagons, you probably want snap to grid as an aid. Also, check by taking a look at the status line to see if its all a single image now. Then just delete the object that is on top of the original objects (if you havent accidentally deleted them before). Or maybe you made a bitmap copy by pressing Alt + B. For some reason, when you enter a group (which you can do by double-clicking on it) a new layer is created, and is named after that group. To ungroup, right-click and ungroup or press Ctrl+U. Then I clicked Path Difference and both disappeared. After all the letters were combined, I selected this path and the scroll image as the 2nd path. You can tell that by looking at the Layers indicator. So I converted the text to path by using Object to Path, ungrouped them, combined them and made sure the status message shows that theyre a path. Let’s briefly go over 3 reasons why your objects may not be visible. Somehow, in this file, you are inside a group, already, when you open the file. If your objects aren’t visible in Inkscape, it’s most likely for one of three reasons: either there’s no set fill and stroke color, the alpha channel of the fill and/or stroke color has been reduced to zero, or the opacity of the object has been reduced to zero. But it has to do with something that I've never completely understood in Inkscape. Hhmm, I can't say exactly how you managed to do this. ![]()
